Hessle Theatre Company has been producing professional standard theatre in Hull and East Yorkshire for over 100 years. From spectacular musicals to hilarious family pantomimes, we are passion about putting on shows that rival the professionals… and we’ve got awards to prove it.
Hessle Theatre Company is a registered charity and one of the region’s leading community theatre companies. With a membership of over 100 dedicated performers, crew, designers and front-of-house volunteers, we are a company built on commitment, fun and genuine love of live theatre.
We are affiliated to the National Operatic & Dramatic Association (NODA) and always dedicate ourselves to the highest artistic standards. Our productions have been praised by audiences and critics, with the Hull Daily Mail describing us as a company that “habitually puts out top-notch productions”. NODA and audiences have recognised our shows as on a par with professional touring productions.
Whether you’ve been supporting HTC for a long time or if you a discovering us for the first time, you find us to be a company that cares deeply about theatre and the people involved. HTC is a family… a family that loves theatre.
Having been producing theatre in Hull and East Yorkshire since 1922, we’ve seen a thing or two. A lot has changed over the years, and we’ve got stories to tell. Our history has been long and lively. And we wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for our supporters on-stage, behind the scenes and in the auditoriums.

Hessle Theatre Company is proud to perform in the premier theatre spaces in Hull and East Yorkshire. Our commitment to professional standard, accessible theatre finds us in some brilliant venues.
Theatre has always had the power to bring people together — and that's something we take seriously at HTC. Over the years we've shared the stage with the Three British Tenors, performed at Classics in the Park, and used our productions to raise funds for causes including the NSPCC, the Parkinson's Disease Society, and the Alzheimer's Association.
We are a registered charity (No. 500483), and everything we do is driven by a love of theatre and a commitment to the communities we serve across Hull and the East Riding of Yorkshire.
